Hi
As much as we know, there's alot of methods, strategies and ways to do business.
So i'm doing a little discussion here, how had you guys started your web hosting business? Be it, from family and friends, cold calling, door-to-door sales, sales fair, or even playing around with SEO.
Let's see how interesting individual's experience can be.
Myself, web hosting business started off with a friend. He's keen to host a website, and i literally shared my web hosting account with him. I cannot really remember my first control panel was, but there was a feature for me to split my account, so i clinched my first sales of $1 per month, for a 10MB storage. This should happen at least 7 years ago.
Thereafter, i'm offered a reseller package by the provider, and then continued to receive referrals.
Today, i've bought over several smaller scale companies with great clients but perhaps not so much on niche reputation, background or marketing that made me liquidate their business name, and merely took over the clients. Others, it's still more of referral through satisfied friends and clients. I also do some web development, design, and IT solution services, and these contributes towards the hosting business.
